Our mission is to restore dignity and provide sustainable solutions for persons with disabilities, starting with the Special Education Centre, Oji River. Since 2011, we have undertaken extensive renovation and development projects to transform this once-neglected institution into a model for inclusive education and self-sustainability. Join us in making a difference. Together, we can change lives.
The Fr. Innocent Udeafor Foundation was born out of a deep conviction to serve the most vulnerable in society. Our founder, Rev. Fr. Innocent Ndubuisi Udeafor, a Catholic priest from Mmaku, Awgu LGA, Nigeria, and resident in Switzerland, first encountered the Special Education Centre, Oji River in 2010 while searching for a special education facility for his brother. What he found was heartbreaking—dilapidated buildings, students with disabilities struggling for survival, no reliable water or electricity supply, and an irregular feeding program. Moved by compassion and driven by purpose, Fr. Udeafor embarked on a mission to rebuild and restore hope.
Revive neglected special education facilities through infrastructure development, Empower students with disabilities through skill acquisition programs, Ensure sustainability by integrating agriculture and vocational training, Promote inclusivity and dignity for vulnerable individuals.

For years, students at the Special Education Centre, Oji River, struggled with irregular meals and poor living conditions. Many went to bed hungry, while others had to cook for themselves in unsafe environments. Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Fr. Innocent Udeafor Foundation has established a fully equipped central kitchen and dining hall, ensuring that all students receive nutritious, daily meals in a dignified setting. Additionally, renovated hostels now provide safe and comfortable accommodations, with beds, bedding, and essential facilities, ensuring that every child has a warm place to sleep and call home.
The Foundation believes in equipping students with lifelong skills that empower them beyond the classroom. Through skill acquisition programs, students are trained in tailoring, agriculture, fish farming, poultry, and craft-making—giving them the tools to become self-sufficient and financially independent. Rather than relying on charity, these individuals graduate with practical knowledge that enables them to build businesses, secure employment, and contribute meaningfully to society. Your support helps expand these programs, transforming students from recipients of aid to creators of opportunities.
The journey of transformation at the Special Education Centre is far from over. Many facilities still require urgent renovation, from classrooms to administrative buildings. Continued funding will ensure that the Centre becomes a fully functional and conducive environment for learning and growth. Additionally, with frequent power outages affecting operations, the Foundation is exploring alternative energy solutions, such as solar power, to provide consistent electricity for classrooms, hostels, and essential services. A sustainable power supply means better learning conditions, safer environments, and a brighter future for all.
